'A Pot Plant in the Corner' explores the relationship between music and the natural environment. It explores a fascination with the ephemeral nature of the acoustic sounds of the earth. Every day we filter out a cacophony of sounds that, out of context, take on new meaning and offer insights into the planet and ourselves.
This work was composed for Tilde New Music and Sound Art's guest curation at Love/City Festival III in January 2016: 'Here Down, Listen Up'. Based on the theme of Planetary, 'Hear Down, Listen Up' takes its meaning from Tycho Brahe's 'By Looking Down, I See Up' (1602) and invites the listener to pay close attention to the aural information around them, on both micro and macro scales.
